About

Itraconazole is used to treat yeast infections of the mouth and throat or of the esophagus (tube that connects the throat to the stomach). Itraconazole is in a class of antifungals called triazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection.

Indication

It is used for infections caused by fungi or yeasts such as vaginal infections, dermatological infections, onychomycosis etc.

Granulocytopenia, Thrombocytopenia , Hyperglycemia, Hyperkalemia, Hypokalemia, Hypomagnesemia , Confusional state , Neuropathy peripheral, Dizziness, Somnolence , Cardiac failure, Left ventricular failure, Tachycardia , Hypertension, Hypotension , Gastrointestinal disorder , Hepatic failure, Hepatitis, Jaundice , Rash erythematous, Hyperhidrosis , Myalgia, Arthralgia , Generalized edema, Face edema, Chest pain, Pyrexia, Pain, Fatigue, Chills.

Drug Interactions

Itraconazole : Rifampicin , cyclosporin , H2 antagonists , antacids , tamsulosin , antiarrhythmics , digoxin , cilosrazole , repaglinide , saxagliptin , midazolam , nadolol , tacrolimus , salmeterol , reboxetine , statins , tolvaptan , meloxicam , sirolimus , domperidone , ivabradine, ergot alkaloids.

When not to Use

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to itraconazole or to any of the excipients.

Precaution

When driving vehicles and operating machinery the possibility of adverse reactions such as dizziness, visual disturbances and hearing loss , which may occur in some instances, must be taken into account.
