It is indicated as: - Initial therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise do not provide adequate glycemic control. As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Side Effects
Vomiting • Stomach ache (abdominal pain) • Muscle cramps • A general feeling of not being well with severe tiredness • Difficulty in breathing • Reduced body temperature and heartbeat .
Drug Interactions
Digoxin , Furosemide , Nifedipine , thyroid products, estrogens, oral contraceptives calcium channel blocking drugs, and isoniazid.
When not to Use
The Sitagliptin is contraindicated in:- Patients with type 1 diabetes. -Patients with known hypersensitivity to Sitagliptin or any other component of the product. - Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis , including ketoacidosis, with or without coma.
Precaution
Sitagliptin are known to be substantially excreted by the kidney. serum creatinine concentrations should be determined regularly.
